As a friend of the previous owners Mike and Lynda, I (A local girl, former collegiate athlete and (very) small business owner) moved back home to be closer to family.  A conversation over food and drink with Mike and his partner Lynda led to Mike saying, “You should buy our business!”  Something like, . . . we are looking for quality owners to continue to serve our customers so I can retire and go fishing.  Two months later, me and my partner Janette Atkins became sole investors in Abrasives Spokane where I then hired a team to help carry on the great reputation Abrasives Spokane has for service to its customers.  - Nicole Materne

Nicole’s roots go back to gravel, rock crushing plants (Materne Bros. Contractors – for road grading) to competitive golf on the women’s circuit, including the LPGA tour, to medical device sales, and owning a small clothing company (2010-2012).
